New Eden,
Theomachy is the Greek term for battle of the gods. As capsuleers we are immortals that struggle for power and worth.
Repercussus will be hosting a tournament appropriately named GÇ£TheomachyGÇ¥ on CCPGÇÖs Singularity Server in an arena that will have celestials and several beacons that may have traps or treasures. Theomachy will consist of up to 400 capsuleers duking it out for 4 hours, utilizing the resources at hand to make allies and destroy enemies. Your objective, is to be the last capsuleer alive.
Theomachy will commence 1900 Eve Time, August 9th 2014
All Participants are to be docked in PVH8-0 at 1900 Eve time August 9th. Participants are to have dropped roles on Singularity by no later than 1900 Eve time August 5th. This is to ensure members can join the hosting corporation of GÇ£Ludus Gallicus.GÇ¥
Traps range from troll fitted ships, Overseer ships blowing your ship up, and NPCs shooting your ship. Otherwise, a celestial or beacon will have beneficial items you will need to ensure an edge over the competition. Beneficial items include but are not limited to.
- Upgraded ships
- Powerful modules
- Scripted events that will hold rewards ranging from max boosting bonus, logistics support for a single engagement and more.
The basic rules are simple.
- There is no podding within the first 5 minutes of the event since all participants will need to find and board ships.
- The Overseers are not authorized to Pod anyone however participants are encouraged.
- If you are podded then you are out of the tournament. Any attempt to rejoin will result in immediate CCP removal.
- Stargates are off limits! Anyone caught on the gates will result in immediate CCP removal.
- Structures are not a viable target; however, mobile tractor units are the exception.
- Also be warned there is a designated scanning team in system that will be scanning anyone who may create a mid-safe within system who may try to avoid combat. Upon recognition you will be removed by CCP.
In the event of a disconnection or Singularity going down. The participants will have 5 minutes to log back in and join the fight. Once the 5 minutes are up, a snap shot of participants in local will be taken. Any additional participants afterwards will be removed.
What are the prizes available? As of right now sponsorships from corporations, alliances, and CCP has allowed Repercussus to ensure a minimal 100 Billion ISK prize pool. Due to these great donations and sponsorships the following prizes will be awarded. These prizes are determined by the final 3 participants alive who will fight to the death to be named champion.
- Third place (The Honorable Mention) will receive 9 PLEX and a Barghest
- Second Place(Almost there) will receive 16 PLEX and a Barghest
- First place (The Champion) will receive 24 PLEX and a Barghest
Furthermore, there will be additional ways to gain prizes. Examples are destroying a designated ship that with high value loot in its cargo, obtain most kills throughout the tournament, etc.

- Can we get verification from CCP that they are actually sponsoring this event?
- Can we get verification from SOMER blink that they are sponsoring this event?
- Is there a third party like Chribba that can confirm these prizes actually exist?
- Why is your mailing list and chat channel little more than a placeholder?
- Why does the corporation "Ludus Gallicus" not exist?
- Why does registration require an API key at all?
- Why is this being held on SiSi instead of TQ?
1. CCP Leeloo and CCP Falcon are the reps from CCP that are supporting this event, CCP Leeloo is on vacation till the 30th, I do not know if Falcon is on vacation. Tomorrow I expect a response from CCP confirming the event, since it is currently very late in Iceland. 5. Ludus Gallicus is a corporation made on sisi for the purpose of the players to participate. Due to game mechanics, having all the players in the same corporation makes certain aspects of the event run more smoothly and more options for the players. 6. The limited api key is to prove you have a valid and active account on tranquility, since we have a limited number of slots, we canGÇÖt have inactive accounts taking up slots used for active players. 7. The amount of resources needed for this event such as fitted ships, posses would make this event astronomical in isk cost that would make it impossible to do on Tranquility. To give you an idea, the players will have over 4,000 fitted ships and various loot containers strewn around the arena.
Question 2, 3 and 4 will be answered by Troyd23 shortly.

Once the copy is done; then create a short cut to the launcher in the new folder. Then go into the properties of the new short cut and modify the target location to something similar to "D:\SISI\EVE\eve.exe" /server:Singularity this will launch the singularity server instead of TQ...
This will not work for Steam users how can we participate without messing with our TQ client ?
For reference, this is on the Test Server Feedback section of the forums
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=334229&find=unread - This is for Steam users to be able to use Singularity.

Is there a 'Hall of Fame' somewhere listing previous winners?
there are no previous winners because noone has ever done this.. and for the minimum requirements... If you have a pulse and and an eve account just do it. Try to have fun, learn from your mistakes and dont think about getting prices. Watch 'em run amuck, catch 'em as they fall, never know your luck when there's a free for all. edit: i approve of this kind of product. Having it on sisi on a reinforced node with a limited number of pilots sounds like a huge improvment over the ghost site debacle. I'm excited for 4 hours of pew even if i have to watch it via stream. btw why not jove space?
To answer both questions
Kaira: Since the majority of the fits are meta 0, you shouldn't have to worry about dying a lot. In fact there are over 4k ships so expect to lose your ship a lot.
Coffeinum: The event will be streamed to the best of our ability. Anyone that wants to stream it from their perspective or fraps it is welcome. Jove space was the original suggestion but that was turned down, so its fine. |

Will we be able to dock during the event? And, if so, can we make/use dock/undock bookmarks? (if yes, can we do it before the event? i.e. should I make bms now in preparation?)
I was thinking that if we get loot (modules, implants) in space, we'd likely need to dock to make use of them. Also, docking for repairs is generally something people might want to do.
But, docking also makes us safe and thus would allow one to stay alive in the event without risk (bad). I assume you'd want to prevent this somehow.
Maybe it will all become clear once things get started.
The event system has no station.
Edit: To clarify, there will be ample opportunities for refitting purposes when you find modules and such around the arena so do not worry. That is why you are joining the player corporation, not only to make organizational of all of you easier(we can control who is bridged), but we can give you some refitting options. |

I had some of my preparations(fitted ships etc done before the last mirror so had to start over which is expected since they were deploying Crius. I got in touch with CCP Goliath who while he could not guarantee there would not be another mirror at least before the event, he did mention he would do all he could to prevent a mirror till the event is over. |

How will this work? Clearly some ppl are going to be able to fly more stuff. Power to them, but it would be nice if the ship name or something would give an indication of how its fit. Or we could just go for it and hope like hell we have something we can shoot with
The majority of all ships in the arena will be Meta 0 fit, in fact T2 weapons will be extremely rare, the only ways to get them will be blowing up Overseer ships and finding very few ships that actually have them(I won't spoil the number of course)
Note: Do not expect killing the Overseer ships to be an easy task but don't let that stop you.

Just a reminder, it is 2 days before the deadline and 88/400 have joined the Ludus Gallicus corporation on singularity with a few pending applications waiting on corp stasis and a few that have still not dropped roles.
You can quit your corp instantly on sisi without waiting on stasis as long as you do not try to drop roles first.
I may have in error rejected a few applications to the corp so if you think you were rejected and still registered, re-apply and I will get with you, we had some database issues which is still in effect so we are using a backup database for the participants.
Just some more stuff to spice up the pot. Its not on the prize page yet but CCP Falcon has added these to the top 3 prizes.
1st place
- EVE Second Decade CollectorGÇÖs Edition
- EVE Source Limited Edition
2nd place
- EVE Source Standard Edition
- EVE Second Decade CollectorGÇÖs Edition Mystery Code
3rd place
- EVE Source Standard Edition
- EVE Second Decade CollectorGÇÖs Edition Mystery Code
I am sure CCP Falcon can verify this when he sees this post for anyone that might question it. |

Delt0r Garsk wrote:I had a lot of fun. But wanted to perhaps give a suggestion? The feedback form didn't have a box for that :D
In the end it was just a "run away" game of gtfo everywhere you landed, and mostly from overseers, more or less ignoring anyone else. I was hoping for a more balls deep PvP thing.
I had 2 ideas that may help for that either independently or together. Both are to encourage more PvP between players and let overseers take a back seat.
1). Have a hard time limit. At that time everyone alive gets the prizes pooled and evenly distributed. Overseers don't really get involved unless agressed.
If the difference between 1st and 2nd prize are big enough, and i think it was. I think the most kith and kin group will be killing each other left right and center. And groups will be very active in killing other groups, since there is a lot to be gained by getting rid of others. Even your own team mates.
2). Have 2 sets of leaderboards. Last man standing. And a "most kills" or "most kill points" leaderboard.
The details could shift the emphasis. For example points could be distributed to all on the killmail thereby discouraging larger groups.
Anyway, just a thought but I guess it depends on what the emphasis is. Really appreciate the hard work that goes into things like this.
That was the initial goal was, Hunters would be mostly hands off in the beginning, then it became clear from my some of our Referees that there were at least 3 large groups roaming so I told the Hunters to escalate. Unfortunately most of the time they were hard to catch and ended up probably killing a bunch of the lone wolves. We did not restrict bounce pings cause it was difficult to track and watch out for. It certainly made some of the blobs harder to catch.
I will definitely take the rest of your ideas under advisement cause we did have a hard cap of the event on singularity as a corp level, we did the event at 2:00 eve time which forced the event to end at sisi downtime at 5:00 I chose 19:00 to allow more EU timezone to participate.
We will be doing this event again, next year. |

If anyone has any video content from their perspective regarding the event to be posted to youtube etc. If you could send me the links we are compiling a historical record of the event.
After looking at the feedback that was filled out in my feedback form as well as talking to a few people in the Theomachy The Event channel. A few things that will be resolved and handled prior to the next event.
Too Many Troll fits- I thought they would be mostly destroyed but in reality people found them, and got out of them so they simply piled up as we brought in more ships(I might have been guilty of dropping 3 of the RR Mallers) Sorry Marlona.
We had around 250-300 troll ships out of the entire batch, which on paper is not alot but when they aren't destroyed they will pile up and mess up our ratios so I am going to reduce how many we have in the future. This will also include the troll loot cans that were available.
Too many Bubbles - The bubbles purpose was to keep people from just warping around in pods all event(though that happened anyway). They simply lost their power against the larger groups as tacticals were made(we might address that next time to make it so you can't avoid fights so easily.
We will tone down the amount of bubbles at beacons in the future
Risk vs Reward Balance - It was pointed out to me that a troll fit ship was found inside a bubble, that was most likely an oversight on our part as we were rushing to get the arena setup from 15:00 up until you guys got into system.
In the future if a ship is in a bubble or a loot can is in a bubble, its going to actually be worth it and not garbage.
Refitting Options - There were currently 2 ways to refit your ships without finding a mobile depot, the Refitting POS that LG owned that was at the Supply Depot beacon, but since there were bubbles there, it was a risky location to go to. Or players didn't realize they could use the SMAs. The second option was a carrier that was very late in getting there, the pilot was a LG person and that was probably not well explained either.
In the future, instead of keeping it secret, we will make it more obvious what refitting options the players have, otherwise it makes all the 215 loot containers I put in the arena worthless.
Overview Clutter - The amount of ejected ships in the arena, mobile bubbles and loot cans where for the players to use but due to eve mechanics we are limited to what we can do.
So going forward due to limited ways to resolve the issue AND make it fun for everyone. We will spread out the ships. Instead of the starting ships in the Proving Grounds + the ones at the other beacons. We will deploy as many ships as we have players but they will be evenly spread around the entire arena. I am hoping that CCP will add a un piloted ship filter for the Overview but one can only dream.
Scripted Events - It was apparent to the events team that the majority of the players ignored the scripted events with the exception of the Hidden Overseer and the Random Dramiel roaming the arena.
After some discussion with some of the participants, it was clear that they thought in most cases they were either not worth the reward(cause the rewards were secret) or they were traps by the Hunters. The hunters themselves were actually told to avoid any beacon with a scripted event. This was never told to the players so we will make sure its well known in some fashion or another. Unfortunately some Hunters were actually sighted at the scripted events anyway. So our job will be to make them a bit more transparent without completely spoiling it.
The Rules changing/Rules being more clear - The on grid bookmarks was initially allowed but then changed during the event to reduce the effect of the large groups.
The fact the rules were changing in that way was not declared by any of the staff. It was also commented that some of the rules were not fully explained or some people were still lost. We will try to get the rules more explained to players when they register.
The Large Blobs -This was the most common issue with Theomachy. This was expected to happen, but what was not expected was how many and how mobile they would be.
Going forward, the hunter team is going to ignore smaller groups and lone pilots will be utterly left alone, unless the lone wolf engages the Hunter then its fair game. We will have more resources dedicated to dealing with larger groups like we had originally said we would but the mobility was causing a bit of an issue. Brave might notice that we had a bunch of warp ins on them, our referee prober was re-directed towards probing out the tactical pings you guys were using.
This is not the final list of feedback we have gotten from Theomachy, but like I might have said, we have done this event twice in the past and each time I have re-iterated on rules/mechanics and such to reduce issues. The 5 min no pod rule was added after one of our guys in the first event was podded in 2minutes of the event starting. All constructive criticism is received and I will be looking at it and updating the event to adapt. If you have any comments or suggestions that was not raised in the Theomachy feedback form, feel free to send me evemail.
I know I said this event will be yearly, we are most likely going to have the event closer than that so we can avoid it being as close to the AT as it is. That might have caused problems with participation as well.
See you all at the next one and remember the Overseers are always watching. |

If you have any comments or suggestions that was not raised in the Theomachy feedback form, feel free to send me evemail. See you all at the next one and remember the Overseers are always watching. Well since the event is over I'll share my half of this. I was the FC for (I think) the largest group of players during Theomachy. Our combined Spectre/Brave group had 44 people to begin with, which was probably a little bit excessive. Anyway, we were able to hold down one of the ship caches very early, and pod a large number of players almost immediately while denying useful ships to everyone else. This gave us a HUGE advantage early on. If you hadn't put SO MANY ships in one place, we would never have gained such a large initial advantage. Almost our entire 40 man fleet got into a hodgepodge of cruisers and battlecruisers almost immediately, with three exequrors and a nestor. Yeah, we weren't going to die. Moral of that story: spread out the ship more.... a lot more Lastly, and this is kinda the funny part that you guys didn't pick up on - want to know how we knew you were hunting us? Because you were streaming it. All of it. We had two guys watching the various streams reporting where the overseers and hunters were at almost all times. When you focused on us, we would split up into two or three various groups until we'd shaken your tail, and then form back up as a group. Wasn't easy, no, but once we got the hang of it we were pretty much golden and free of harassment. When overseers started podding, we no longer had to fight the players ourselves, so we just took the cowards way out and reshipped into stabbed MWD frigates. Moral of that story, don't put stabs on any of the ships, force players to kill players, and don't discuss who/when/how you're hunting on live stream. IIRC we got 17 people into the top 30, but no one in the top 10.
<--- His fault. My troll fits were not working quite as intended, some of them were too beneficial I realized. |
